Game Preview: Red-hot Packers meet struggling Bolts in LA

After snapping a three-game losing streak last weekend, the Los Angeles Chargers now welcome the red-hot Green Bay Packers to LA. With a lucky win last time out at Chicago, the Bolts now sit third in the AFC West with a record of 3-5.

The Packers are one of the stand-out teams of 2019 with an impressive record of 7-1. Led by star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has more than 2,000 passing yards, the Packers have excelled this season in both the pass game and the run game.

Their main touchdown threat is running back Aaron Jones, who has eight touchdowns to his name, equalling his total for last season. The Chargers must come up with a solid game plan to limit Jones’s effectiveness if they are going to come away with a victory.

The Chargers now seem to be coming out of the injury crisis that has hampered their start to the 2019 season. On the injury report this week, there were only eight players compared to the previous week’s 13. With players like Melvin Ingram and Russell Okung returning to full health, the Bolts are getting stronger at the right part of the season.

Defensive end Joey Bosa continued his hot run of form last week when he recorded two sacks for the second game in a row. On the other side of the ball, undrafted running back Austin Ekeler continues to be a revelation for the Chargers. He scored another receiving touchdown last week, which takes his total for the year to eight.

The main thing to look out for in this game is how the Chargers’ offense performs after last week’s sacking of Offensive Coordinator Ken Whisenhunt. The man to step into his place is Quarterback Coach Shane Steichen, who will be looking to get this high-powered Chargers offense firing on all cylinders. His main dilemmas heading into the new job will be how to get quarterback Philip Rivers back to his accurate best and whether or not to include struggling RB Melvin Gordon.

I believe this will be a good game but ultimately, the Packers are on too hot a run and have too much firepower to not out-score the Chargers.

Prediction: Packers 33, Chargers 20
